What can I use as a soap bar mold?

    Posted under soap molds

I'm making homemade soaps. I want to make them into large, square or rectangle bars. I've heard about using small milk cartons, but they are hard to come by. Any other recommendations for a soap mold? Craft stores don't have the size I'm looking for.. they are all too shallow. Thanks!
Also, I cannot mold the soap. It is liquid and VERY hot when it is poured. Thanks everyone!

"Jello" brand gelatin has made a lot of jelly molds that are smal enough and come in interesting shapes and sizes. My local thrift store had quite a few in the kitchen section. Check stores that sell kitchen stuff you may find food moulds there.

What should my homemade soap labels consist of?

    Posted under homemade soap

I know that my company name and logo also the ingredients. but Some of the essential oils I put in my soaps do have warnings not to use during pregnancy and such. Do I include that on my labels? I have been making soap for my family for quite some time now, bit I am new to selling my soaps.

Yes you should include the oils and sodium hydroxide, water/milk (what ever ingredients) you use, if you have space list a waring regarding the essential oils, otherwise it is you responsibility to tell potential customers the warning. Also, include contact information (ie - a phone number, email address, and web address) for future sales.

Where can I find candle and soap supplies in port st. lucie, Florida?

    Posted under soap making supplies

I just got a book on how to make candles and soaps and I have no idea where to find the soap bases, scents, and colors for the soap making and the wax, color, wick, and scents for the candle making. Can anyone help me?!

Candle Making is fun, I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

I advise to stay away for generalized hobby stores since they tend to have inconsistent quality and very high prices. Here is a good web site for finding suppliers in your state:

    http://www.suppliersbystate.com/

    I also recommend:

http://www.candlesandsupplies.com (they are in PA, but will ship)

    Hope this helps!

can I use Sodium Hydroxide from the chemistry lab for soap making?

Yes, it may even be purer than what is available else where.

Sodium Hydroxide, lye, NaOH, or caustic soda are all the same thing.
