I like making soap?
18 Dec 2008
I am a begginner… but I absolutely love, love, love it! I have always enjoyed bath products, soaps, etc. And making stuff, always have to be doing something. So occasionally I make my own soap, just with stuff around the house. But, I want to get more serious, buy a kit, what ever. Can any one recamend a good supplies shop that I could probably find locally? Any brand names, about how much will I have to pay for the basics. I have already done research and I figured I want to do melt and pour soap (hopefully one with goat milk) and keep it as natural as possible. What are some good ways to find cheap, but good stuff such as bases and essential oils. Just, any bits of wisedom would help. I already know the asic steps of soap making by the melt and pour method, BTW. Thanx!
Can anyone think of a class that might be offered locally?
This is for entertainment, not to be sold or anything.
Not just soaps, but also things like bubble bath, bath bombs, lip balm.
I know there are recipes for both bath bombs & lip blam on www.craftbits.com.

As far as where to buy, maybe michaels or hobby lobby or joanne's.
at which locations and where did the soap go? to supply the troops? or back to germany?
The Holocaust had to pay for itself. Women's hair was used to stuff mattresses for U-Boats because it would not rot in the moisture. Dentures and eyeglasses were re-cycled and re-used. A person was determined to have a set value in resources that could be harvested from him, from labor to soap to fertilizer. And yes, the lamp shades were a perverted little glitch from the wife of one commandant's wife who was supposed to be particularly gleeful when she found a tatoo of Raggedy Ann and Andy. She was put before a German firing squad for selling Jewish babies as Aryan.
The various brick-a-brack that everyone carries with them was used as 'collateral' to the Reich Bank for the loans to finance the Holocaust. That was why, when liberating Germany, the US Army found warehouses filled with beaten up suitcases, rotten old suits and rooms full of baby shoes. The warehouses were make-shift vaults.
Any good shopping near Denver airport, Colorado?
14 Dec 2008
I’m going to have around 6 hours to shop before taking a flight back home. Is there any good priced shopping malls accessible by public transit, or on foot, from the Denver International Airport?
I’m interested in shopping for electronics, clothing (Bebe, Adidas, etc, perhaps factory outlets), and perhaps crafting or soap-making supplies, at prices better than Canada. Big Box shops are OK too.
Also what is the sales tax% there?
Ya i would get a cab.. and go to Stapleton… its a farely new mall and its like 15-20 mins from the airport..
Candle & Soap Making?
12 Dec 2008
Hi, I was looking into making candles today and found a pretty cool website for candle & soap making…I think soap making would be fun as well, but I only use natural ingredients. Has anyone made natural soap and where did you find your supplies? Also what do you think about candles…ie soy vs parrafin?
Good morning!
If you are new at candle and soap making, I'd suggest getting a starter's kit from a crafts shop like Michael's or Hobby Lobby so that you can get a feel for what you're doing (that's how I started). After I "mastered" the arts of candle and soap making, I started ordering supplies from wholesale suppliers like Candlewic, Brambleberry, Chase Molds and Soapcrafters. Ordering from wholesalers is a good move once you decided to make this a regular hobby and/or go into the business of selling your products (supplies from retailers are much more expensive). There are plenty of other soap and candle making websites and suppliers. Just google.
Paraffin wax is a by-product of petroleum. Soy wax is a natural product derived from soy beans. Paraffin is inexpensive and tend to hold scents better than soy. However, soy burns much cleaner and can be used for more cosmetic purposes such as lotion candles. Personally, I use the most natural ingredients when I make my candles and soaps. But go ahead and experiment. Candle and soap making are very creative and relaxing outlets.

I wanted to start making my own lips balms and Soaps and Lotions, But I can't find a website where I can buy supplies, like Containes, and Beeswax, and natural oils.
Can someone tell me where I could find these things online?
Ebay!! Totally serious. People sell everything on ebay and you can probably find it cheaper there than in most retail places.
